Out of the Eater

The honeycomb,
A hanging mess
Delicious.
Scrape it
Bare.

She's still not sure.
The buzzing is surprisingly
Entrancing,
Ensnaring.

If you choose to flee,
Escape
Will not
Be painless.

The constant static Far too soft, The sterile air, The cool cocoon Bathed in beige And calm yet morbid grey, But neutral bland chromatics Never fostered Sprouting wings. That process sounds too gory, Filled with hurt. She hates this Fraudulently promising cage But isn't quite convinced A step away Would lead to green And indigo. She's finished with All pain Forever. After prom, The big game, As they sweep the streets Beneath the sunrise, Do you find you're hanging on? The holiday, The love affair, The ice cream cone, The hours on the sofa In the melting light Alone. You thought you found a home, But even husbands Fade inside the fighting And go away. He jumped the gun, You see, Misreading his needy heart As if he can't decipher His own handwriting. You gave up everything.
