The mono speaker in the restaurant
Is playing my favorite eighties song
About a love,
A beautiful and tender flower thin and
Breaking through the ugly earth's
Embittered crust
To grow
And die,
Unable to survive
Rootless.

Already
You have left your seat,
Your coffee steam
A starving spirit
Faintly rising in the air.
